Hinamatsuri is a festival in Japan that celebrates the good health of girls. In the Asakusa area it is represented by kids dropping paper dolls down into the Sumida river. The dolls carry away all the bad luck for the year. We went down to see what we could see.
Considering there was the Tokyo Marathon going on a block away, along with the normal crowds of Shensoji Temple also a block away, it was a very busy area today.
We waited patiently for the delayed beginning of the event.
Finally the kids began dropping the paper dolls down into the river.
Though they didn’t float too far, it was fun to see. I'm glad we went.
