New York: List of Things To Do For Free or For Less Than $10USD
1. Seaglass Carousel-
www.seaglasscarousel.nyc. Located in Battery Park, it's a really unusual carousel. Best time to go is at sunset because of the sunset, but anytime is great. It's located in a park, next to the water. You can't go wrong. $5 for tickets. Open 7 days a week, 10am-10pm weather permitting
2. Staten Island Ferry-
A free ride to Staten Island from the Southern tip of Manhattan (South Ferry stop on the 1 subway). It passes close enough to the Statue of Liberty to get some good photos. Make sure and ask which side to stand on to see the statue. It's about a 20-minute ride over to the island and they leave every fifteen minutes or so. When you arrive at Staten Island, exit the ferry building to your right and follow along the water's edge toward the ballpark. There is a little-known memorial area for the victims of the 9/11 victims who lived on Staten Island. It's very beautiful.
